Unlike in other years, the months of August and September in the Empire passed more discreetly, even though it did not reduce the number of its activities. What is the reason?
The first day of August began with immense euphoria. After a major political stalemate, elections were finally held and on 1 August, the new members of parliament took possession of their seats in the Imperial Diet, which had been opened with a long-awaited Speech from the Throne, which took place on a very special date: Empire Day.
The next day, in a new phase of its foreign policy, the Empire and the successors of the Empire of Pavlov set aside their differences. Oscar I and Deniz de Montescano signed a treaty of mutual recognition and exchanged honors, ending an unfriendly relationship since November 2016, which began to be resolved by the imperial government in January this year, when it repealed the ban on Pavlov citizens and Lostisland.
In the same week, the Empire recognized the State of Portuvera and Tjet, a young US-based micronational project, and had His Imperial and Royal Majesty, the Emperor-King, being received to an interview with Microcast, a micronationalism podcast made by Brazilian micronationalists. The positive repercussions ensured the permanent presence of the Emperor of Karnia-Ruthenia in the program.
Emperor-King’s Day has come and with it a diminutive list of honors, following a tendency to make the distribution of imperial titles and decorations increasingly rare. However, as is often the case at this time of year, His Majesty has received honours from the United Provinces of Mauritia and the Principality of Lorenzburg.
August would end with the inauguration of a new President of the House of Representatives and a new Imperial Chancellor. September, however, would be immersed in silence and protection due to a personal matter of the Imperial House.
His Imperial Majesty and Royal, the Emperor-King, separated from his then companion. The former empress renounced her citizenship, titles and positions and left the Empire. The Imperial House did not comment further and the Court was silent for countless days. The following week, it was announced to the public that the Emperor and his parents would make a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady Aparecida.
It would be 20 days without official activity before His Majesty was seen again, which happened when the Emperor attended the Imperial Diet to consult parliamentarians on a law that would regulate the use of alcohol by the citizens of the Empire. He dedicated himself to concluding recognitions, among them the North Barchant and Byzantium Novum, and issued some decrees, including the recognition of a noble house taking place in the national nobility.
The big event of the social season would take place on 05 October. The Imperial Family would gather in Hofbau to welcome the families of Baron Kiefernholz, Baroness Schaf, and Baroness Eisenland at a formal state dinner, bringing together the elite of Greater Persenburg. Perhaps this new month will prove providential for the Imperial Court to show itself as it is: full of life, charm and stories.
With the beginning of the year, the Empire is preparing for another annual season of activities to be carried out and others that, already established, should take place at the first opportunity.
In the Imperial Court, the Emperor and the Empress entertain their noble peers with social activities, especially the familiar ones. The political class still struggles to mobilize and finally be able to make viable the electoral process, which has long been blocked and whose realization brings great expectation. The economy, the project of the eyes of the population, can gain strength with the coming Conference of Persenburg, still undated and without confirmed guests, but presumed to deal with economic issues.
In the field of international relations, in addition to the previously mentioned conference, other news for January are already established. The Ambassador to the Lusophone Sector, Prince Karácsony-Maryen expands the diplomatic horizons of the Empire and begins to contact relevant micronations of the Spanish-speaking sector. In addition, the possibility of a micronational meeting in São Paulo, the third of its kind, encourages the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In parallel with this, it is known that the Empire plans to strengthen its presence in the British Isles through partnerships and also strengthen its relationship with micronations of Eastern Europe, a region of great interest since always. In addition, propaganda for the increase of citizens from this region are under way.
The apparent calm of government, in fact, hides a tangle of activities whose fruits are to be harvested throughout the year, promising great political-social changes, and also in the economic field, for the first half of 2019.
Without further admonition, His Imperial Majesty the Emperor-King reopened the Imperial Diet, summoning some of its original members, with the exception of the former Imperial Chancellor, who is currently being tried for his conduct during the exercise of the office and the Regent Anton of Tsechia, due his inactivity.
With the publication of Imperial Decree n. 127-2018, the House of Peers become headed by His Royal Highness, the Duke of Appinfeldt, who became the second Chancellor of history and therefore Head of Government of Karnia-Ruthenia. In House of Representatives, as already mentioned, the Regent Anton of Tsechia will no longer be among the members of the house, being replaced by Prince Carlo of Lamburg.
After two months and nine days without a parliament, the order is reintroduced into the Empire through patriotic acts of national interest and relevance against envy and vanity. In addition to the reopening of the parliament, the Empire will go further in its activities later this week.
On a tight schedule, the Emperor-King concluded his participation in the opening of the II Micronational Republican Congress, headquartered by the People’s Republic of Bugolavia and is preparing to participate, this time accompanied by the Empress, of the II Micronational Summit of São Paulo. The meeting will be attended by the leaders and representatives of Karnia-Ruthenia, United Provinces of Mauricia, R.U.P.A. and the Império Alemão, a simulationist and historical-modelist micronation.
