The Battle of Chosin

Post by MichaeldeAppinfeldt »

The epic withdrawal of the United States' 1st Marine Division from the encirclement trap at the Chosin Reservoir, in 1950. There are few actions of this scale, that are as vital for understanding.

The Battle of Kapyong

Post by MichaeldeAppinfeldt »

Another critical battle of the Korean War, the Battle of Kapyong was a brutal battle that, had it gone differently, could have started World War 3...

DUKW

Post by MichaeldeAppinfeldt »

Seemingly an unimportant and boring thing, innovations in cargo transportation is one of the most vital features of any military force, especially when dealing with rivers and lakes, as well as oceans. Herein, the absolutely "groundbreaking" invention of the immortal DUKW....

How Not To Do It.....

Post by MichaeldeAppinfeldt »

This is an official video from the US Department of Defense, explaining in detail how the ambush outside the village of Tongo Tongo, Niger (on the border with Mali) unfolded on October 4, 2017. This is a disturbing video, because fundamental mistakes are made, from the first gunshots, to the arrival of reinforcements.

This is, very definitely, how NOT to do this.
